1. VISIT SAND BEACH
Located on Park Loop Road is Acadia's only ocean sand beach. During peak season this can be more easily accessed by the free Island Explorer shuttle.
2. VISIT CADILLAC MOUNTAIN FOR SUNRISE OR SUNSET
Cadillac Mountain is the first place to see the Sunrise in the United States. It is the tallest peak on Mount Desert Island at 1,530 feet, offering beautiful views. You can access Cadillac Mountain by hiking or driving. Driving up Cadillac Mountain does cost a small reservation fee and require a national park pass. Both must be bought in advance but hurry, sunrise slots fill up almost immediately.
3. CHECKOUT THE TIDE POOLS
I highly recommend checking out Ship Harbor or Wonderland Trail. These are short, fairly easy hikes that almost anyone can do that lead you right out to the ocean and you can go tidepooling during low tide.
4. BIKE THE CARRIAGE ROADS in Acadia national park
With 45 miles of Carriage Roads there's plenty to explore.
5. HAVE A PICNIC AT SEAWALL
Seawall picnic area is the perfect place to cook over the fire or have s'mores right on the ocean.
6. GO SWIMMING
There are 3 places to swim in Acadia National Park. Echo Lake, Sand Beach and Lake Wood.
7. CHECK OUT BASS HARBOR LIGHT STATION
Take the stairs down and climb on the rocks getting a beautiful view of the lighthouse.
8. HIKING
There is hiking for everyone in Acadia. We have some easy paths including Ship Harbor Trail, Wonderland Trail, Jordan Pond Path and Ocean Path Trail. There's also plenty of moderate trails such as Beech Mountain Trail and Flying Mountain Trail. These two trails are some of the more challenging yet rewarding trails, The Beehive Loop Trail and the Precipice Loop.
9. CHECK OUT BAR HARBOR
While not part of Acadia, Bar Harbor is a little town on Mount Desert Island that offers beautiful views, gift shops, restaurants, book stores, ice cream shops and more.
10. DO A SCENIC CRUISE OR FLIGHT
There are places around bass harbor and bar harbor that offer different types of day cruises and flights around Mount Desert Island with views of Acadia
